Several things have happened in the last couple of weeks. We have possibly secured a wholesale outlet for Fairtrade products which would be a good thing. It would be on City Road which is in the centre of London with outstanding loading and packing areas.
KSH and I have been working on upgrading the current site to the latest build of the ERP software that we've been using. This will be a one time upgrade for the year and fits in quite nicely with the season as I have a fair bit of spare time atm. I am hoping to reskin the website as well at some point as it's still the default design that pretty much comes out of the box and isn't terribly inspiring. The new build will mean we can do this in xhtml and css so I've been thinking of having some kind of competition to get a decent skin for it. With the recent application to '3' to get onto their content we will certainly need a 3G skin but I'm not going to be able to knock this up easily. Added to this our longstanding opportunities with SkyActive and the free to air channels and there is plenty of scope for multichannel stuff going forward.
We have been offered some good deals by a couple of Telecoms companies for space in the main hubs in Docklands and Manchester which would give us a high degree of redundancy as well as much higher availability than we currently have. Our current situation benefits from a very low cost and enables us to use fairly old hardware but this has to be measured against unscheduled downtime which has proved difficult to deal with.
In the last weekly management meeting (present ITG, NDG, KSH) we discussed a range of subjects including profit margin per product, cashflow, future funding and business direction. This is a part of the decision reached at the extra-ordinary meeting had with most of those involved back in the Summer. We have been looking at a cashflow/budgeting spreadsheet in order to try and ascertain a way forward.

This is a blog dedicated to the subjects which interest me the most. The development of an ultra low cost, free (as in speech) business administration system for the developing world (and myself) and the business itself. I hope that my experiences might be of interest.
